The star of Edinburgh

Cette nuit il y a eu plein de bruits inquiétants. Il paraît que c'était des faisans. J'ai aboyé mais on m'a réprimandée (le jour était à peine levé) alors je suis montée en douce dans la chambre de mes humains, et je me suis couchée silencieusement sur la moquette. Je me suis faite toute petite, mais j'étais rassurée...

This night, there were plenty of strange noises. Probably pheasants. I barked but I got scolded (it was barely dawn) so I sneaked into my humans' room, and I lay down quietly on the carpetting. I made myself inconspicuous. But I was reassured.

Ce matin, rien ne me préparait au succès incroyable que j'allais avoir l'après-midi.
En effet, on est allées avec ma Chérie arpenter mon nouveau territoire plein de faisans et de petits lapins...

This morning, nothing prepared me for that incredible success I was to have this afternoon.
Actually, my Darling and I went to stalk my new territory full of pheasants and bunny rabbits...

Et l'après-midi, on a pris la direction d'Edinburgh.

Avant on s'est arrêtés dans un magasin qui s'appelle Petsathome, pour m'acheter un nouveau collier, car on a oublié l'autre à Melvaig. Mon nouveau est réfléchissant !

In the afternoon we headed to Edinburgh. Before, we stopped at a shop called Petsathome to get me a new (reflecting !) collar, as we forgot the old one in Melvaig.

Et dans Edinburgh, il faut imaginer : personne ici n'a vu de leonberg. Alors on m'a prise en photo de nombreuses fois, et tout le monde demandait : "what breed is it?" "is it he or she?" "is she nice?" "can it be trained?" "can I hug her?" ou encore les remarques dans mon sillage "what a big dog!" "my! it's a horse!"...

In Edinburgh, just imagine : here, nobody has ever seen a leonberger. So they took my picture several times, and everyone would ask : "what breed is it?" "is it he or she?" "is she nice?" "can it be trained?" "can I hug her?" or I could overhear some remarks like "what a big dog!" "my! it's a horse!"...

Pendant que mon humain cherchait à se débarasser de la petite (j'ai vu les photos, apparemment il a réussi !! :( ) avec mon humaine on a marché dans Edinburgh, et des petits Ecossais étaient fiers de me faire assoir en apprenant au passage deux mots très importants dans la vie : assis et couché !

While my human was trying to get rid of the little one (I saw the picts, he eventually did it, I think!) with my darling we walked in Edinburgh, and little Scots were proud to make me sit and go down, as they learnt two very important words : sit and go down !

Mais j'avoue, j'ai été terrifiée quand je suis tombée sur un pote PLUS GRAND QUE MOI ! C'était un Scottish Deerhound (chien de cerfs écossais), il devait faire une tête de plus que moi même s'il était beaucoup plus maigre ! Quelle rencontre ! Je m'en souviendrai !

But I must say I was terrified when I met a fellow who was BIGGER THAN ME! He was a Scottish Deerhound, he was a head taller than me, only he was much leaner. What a meeting! I will remember it!

J'ai été calme tout le temps même si plein d'inconnus m'ont caressée en douce... Je suis devenue une star. Mais je suis rentrée bien fatiguée. Je préfère les champs et la forêt...

I've been really calm even if plenty of strangers have stroked me sneakily... I've become a star. But I was really tired when we drove back home. I prefer the fields and the forest...
